Club Service focuses on strengthening fellowship and ensuring the smooth functioning of Rotary clubs.

What Rotarians get out of Rotary depends largely on what they put into it.  Many membership requirements are designed to help club members more fully participate in and enjoy their Rotary experience.  For example, to keep clubs strong, every Rotarian must share the responsibility of bringing new people into Rotary.  Even new members can bring guests to club meetings or invite them to participate in a service project.

Keeping members involved in Rotary is another responsibility.  Fostering strong fellowship and encouraging early participation in service projects are two of the best ways to sustain a club’s membership.

Among the Rotary programs available for fostering Club Service are the following:

Global Networking Groups allow individual Rotarians from several countries to join together to focus on common interests.  Through these groups, you can

  • Share fellowship and friendship with thousands of Rotarians
  • Meet other Rotarians with a similar hobby or vocational background
  • Collaborate with Rotarians from around the world who are dedicated to a particular area of service

There are two types of Global Networking Groups: Rotary Fellowships and Rotarian Action Groups.

The Rotary Foundation’s Group Study Exchange (GSE) program is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for business people and professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 who are in the early stages of their careers.  The program provides travel grants for teams to exchange visits in paired areas of different countries.  For four to six weeks, team members experience the host country's culture and institutions, observe how their vocations are practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships, and exchange ideas.  The Rotary Club of Green Valley has sponsored one GSE Team Leader and four GSE Team Members

Rotary Friendship Exchange is Rotary’s international exchange program for Rotarians and their families.  Participants experience other cultures and build friendships by staying in the homes of Rotary club members in another country.  This program advances international understanding and peace through personal contact across borders while developing interclub relationships that lead to fellowship and service projects.

At the local level, the Rotary Club of Green Valley promotes fellowship by providing a variety of fun activities for our members to enjoy.

Once a month the club holds a Rotary Round-Up.  These regularly scheduled events allow members, guests, and friends to gather at a local restaurant on the first Friday of each month.  It is a great opportunity to socialize and enjoy the friendships of Rotary.  Attitude adjustment normally begins at 5:00 pm.

Members of the club also enjoy several local sporting events.  Watching the Las Vegas Wranglers play hockey or tailgating and then enjoying a UNLV Football game are annual club events.

For several years, the club members have participated in decorating the Rotary International float for the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, CA on New Years Day.   The Rose Parade is seen by 300 million people in 150 countries, providing an excellent opportunity for Rotarians to tell about their efforts to improve the quality of life through educational and humanitarian help throughout the world.
