Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development. The Rotary motto is Service Above Self.
The Rotary Club of Green Valley
has been involved in supporting the following groups and projects in the Henderson, NV area:
Green Valley High School - The Rotary Club of Green Valley sponsors a "Student of the Month" from Green Valley High School. In addition, the club has supported the baseball and volleyball athletic programs, a band trip to Washington D.C., the chorus, the Madrigal Singers, and the GVHS Interact Club. A $1000 scholarshp is also provided for a deserving senior at graduation.
Silverado High School - The Rotary Club of Green Valley has sponsored a "Student of the Month" from Silverado High School. In addition, the club supported the softball program and the Silverado HS Interact Club.
C.T. Sewell Elementary School - GV Rotarians have conducted an annual Bicycle Rodeo Safety Program, assisted in the school literacy program, and have provided dictionaries and thesauruses to 3rd and 5th grade students annually.
Paseo Verde Little League - The club has supported Little League as a team sponsor.
Green Valley Little League - The club has supported Little League as a team sponsor.
All-Star High School Soccer Tournament - In conjunction with the Southern Nevada Soccer Coaches Association, the Rotary Club of Green Valley has sponsored an all-star soccer tournament each year since 1993. Graduating senior boys and girls compete in contests pitting the best of the Sunset (west schools) Division against their counterparts from the Sunrise (east schools) Division.
Boy Scouts of America - The Rotary Club of Green Valley has provided financial support to the Boy Scouts as a troop sponsor.
Girl Scouts of America - The Rotary Club of Green Valley has provided financial support to the Girl Scouts as a troop sponsor.
Giving Life Ministries - Rotarians have assisted in work projects and given financial assistance to the Giving Life Ministries, an independent, non-denominational Christian Church located in Henderson.
Salvation Army - Support for the Salvation Army has been provided through finincial assistance and also by Rotarian volunteer bell ringers.
PAYBAC - GV Rotarians have volunteered to speak to and mentor students through the Clark County School District’s PAYBAC (Professionals And Youth Building A Commitment) program. This program is a partnership between the School District and community members visiting "at-risk" middle school students, helping to guide and encourage them to complete high school and continue on to higher education.

KLVX Channel 10 - GV Rotariians have volunteered by assisting during PBS television station telethons.
Santa Claus Project - Rotarians assist Santa Claus in providing holiday gifts to scores of deserving Henderson-area children and in distributing clothing and food to homeless adults.
House of Hope - A renovation project allowed club members to participate in a "hands on" project that benefited the community.
Safe Nest - Donations have been provided to help with Safe Nest's crisis services and domestic violence shelters.
Opportunity Village - In addition to financial assistance, Rotarians have volunteered to work during both the "Safe Streets" Halloween project and the "Magical Forest" Christmas project at Opportunity Village. Opportunity Village seeks to improve the lives of children with intellectual disabilities. Since then, Opportunity Village has grown to become Nevada’s largest private, not-for-profit community rehabilitation program, serving more than 3,000 people annually through vocational training, community job placement, advocacy, and social recreation programs.
Santa Clothes - Assistance has been given to the Rotary Club of Las Vegas to help fund their program which provides needy children with clothing, food, and gifts at Christmas.
Hope Link - Rotarians have provided both financial, volunteer "sweat equity", and "in-kind" donations to support Hope Link (formerly known as the Henderson Allied Community Advocates or HACA), which assists low income residents of Henderson and the southeast part of the Las Vegas valley in attaining or maintaining self-sufficiency.
RYLA - Each year, thousands of young people take part in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program worldwide. Young people ages 14-30 chosen for their leadership potential attend an all-expenses-paid camp to discuss leadership skills and to learn those skills through practice. The Rotary Club of Green Valley sponsors students to attend these events annually.

Henderson District Public Libraries - The club supports the HDPL through the Christmas-time Library Tree Lane Gala, that is presented by the Friends of Henderson Libraries.
Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption - GV Rotarians provide volunteer assistance at the annual Wendy's 3-Tour Challenge, which features golfers from the PGA, the LPGA, and the Champions Tour competing in a televised non-tour format. The event provides support for the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, a public charity dedicated to increasing the adoptions of the more than 150,000 children in North America’s foster care system.
Honne-B Care - Honne-B Care Inc. opened its doors over ten years ago, to provide quality care for children in Nevada. Initially, Honne- B had only an 8 bed capacity. Over the years, the program grew and now offers services to nearly 70 children. Honne-B provides residential care for children who have been placed in the care of the State, some for a day or two, others, for many months or longer. GV Rotarians created an entire back yard playground for these foster children, including a swing set, basketball court, trampoline, and sandbox. Rotarians have also assisted at the annual Christmas visit from Santa.
S.O.A.R. - The Safety Officer's Annual Recognition awards presentation is a program sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Southern Nevada. Meritorious Service Above Self Awards are presented to individuals selected by each participating agency, including all area Police and Fire Departments, and the Nevada Highway Patrol. Awards are also presented to Homeland Security, First Responders, NV-FIST and the FBI. The awards recognize those public servants who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in protecting the citizens of Las Vegas and Clark County.
Snowball Express - The mission of Snowball Express is to create new memories and a few days of joy for children whose lives have been shattered by the loss a parent serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. Snowball Express started in 2006, and in December 900 grieving family members from all across America were flown to Southern California for an unforgettable holiday party. Kids and widows discovered they weren't alone. And they found they weren't forgotten. It was a totally volunteer effort which came together in just a few months to create the largest all-expense-paid gathering for the families of our fallen warriors since 9/11. Southwest Airlines, Oakley, Quiksilver, Panda Express, Taco Bell, Starwood, Marriott, Best Western, Disneyland and countless other partners and sponsors, combined with thousands of Rotary volunteers in Southern California and all across America, contributed and volunteered because it was the right thing to do.
Teachers’ Mini-Grant Program - The Rotary Club of Green Valley awards a number of mini-grants from $50-$200 for special classroom projects to teachers in selected elementary, middle, and high schools in the Henderson area. The funds help to support innovative teachers who want to develop new ideas to enrich the student classroom experience.
St. Therese Center - This organization is a Catholic ministry that welcomes and serves people of all faiths and extends the Lord's healing to all persons infected and affected bu HIV / AIDS. Emphasizing wellness, Saint Therese Center reaches out to those touched by HIV / AIDS to provide spiritual. physical, and emotional support, educational and social services in the spirit of love and compassion. The Rotary Club of Green Valley has provided socks and underwear for the Center and also helped to stock their Food Pantry.
