Rotary Club of Green Valley Awards

First Honorary Membership

KirkOn Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, the
Rotary Club of Green Valley
made a special presentation during our annual Christmas / Hanukkah Party.

Kirk Bazoian was recognized as the first Honorary Member in our club!

Kirk joined the club in 1992 as a Charter Member.  Kirk, his wife Linda, and his son Chris, were owners of Maple Cleaners, until it was sold in the fall of 2007.

Over the years, Kirk has been actively involved in all aspects of the Green Valley Rotary.  He was instrumental in spearheading an International Service Project to have an ambulance donated to a village in Armenia.

Kirk traveled to Armenia several times to establish a contact with a local Rotary club and also to identify a medical facility that could use the vehicle.  The ambulance sat in Kirk’s garage for a couple of years while a mechanic worked on the engine.  Kirk then arranged through the Armenian Society of Southern Nevada to make a contact with Kirk Kirkorian to have the vehicle transported to Armenia.  A relative of Kirk's in Armenia helped get the ambulance delivered to the correct location.

Rotarian Jon Hoolihan originally purchased the ambulance at an auction.

Green Valley Rotarians Melinda Margolis and Jim Frey arranged for a matching grant from Rotary International to help fund the project.  Club members were able to get donations of medical supplies and a local mover shipped the ambulance (for free) to Houston, where it then went by ship to its destination.

Kirk has been an inspiration to our Rotary club.  No one will forget his sincere sharing of what Rotary meant to him as both a club and as a second family, after the Rose Parade Float project in 2006.

When he owned the cleaners, Kirk was a forerunner in giving, donating countless unclaimed garments to the Santa Project each year to help clothe the homeless.

It cannot be argued that anyone upholds the ideals of Rotary more than Kirk.  He truly lives the 4-Way Test in every aspect of his daily life.

Congratulations to Kirk Bazoian for being selected as the first Honorary Member of the Rotary Club of Green ValleyKirk, we applaud your dedication and wish you the very best!
