Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence.  They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development.  The Rotary motto is  Service Above Self.

The Rotary Club of Green Valley

has been involved in supporting the following groups and projects throughout the world:

PolioPlus - The Rotary Foundation's polio eradication program.  Since 1985, Rotary International’s PolioPlus program has contributed greatly to the protection of more than two billion children from the dreaded disease of polio.  Rotary International’s goal is the certification of polio eradication.

Tsunami Relief - Providing help to those affected by the December 26, 2004 earthquake and tsunami in South and South East Asia.

Ambulance Project - The GV Rotary Club purchased and refurbished a previously-owned ambulance.  Once it was completely stocked with medical supplies and equipment, the ambulance was then shipped to the Eurasian Republic of Armenia.

Mobile Dental Clinic- Financial assistance has been provided for a mobile dental clinic in Punitaqui, Chile.

Elementary School Library- Financial assistance has also been provided for an elementary school library in Punitaqui, Chile.

RYLA - Each year, thousands of young people take part in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program worldwide.  Young people ages 14-30 chosen for their leadership potential attend an all-expenses-paid seminar, camp, or workshop to discuss leadership skills and to learn those skills through practice.  The Rotary Club of Green Valley sponsors students to attend these events every year.

Rose Parade Float - Since 1980, Rotary has entered a float in the famous Tournament of Roses parade as a way to raise awareness and promote the organization.  Every year, the float is entirely funded by Rotarian donations and decorated by volunteers who are a part of the worldwide Rotary family.  Green Valley Rotarians have provided both financial support and assisted in the float decoration process.

Rotary Foundation -  Every member of the Rotary Club of Green Valley is a Sustaining Member of the Rotary Foundation's Paul Harris Society.  Through annual contributions of a minimum of $100 per member, the Rotary Foundation continues to provide service throughout the world.  More information about the Rotary Foundation can be located elsewhere on this website.

Angel Wheelchair Project -  The club provided funding for 10 wheelchairs for children in China and Latin America.  Without these wheelchairs the children would be confined to mats on the ground or their beds.

Literacy for All – The Rotary Club of Green Valley, in partnership with other Rotary clubs in District 5300, has undertaken an international literacy project in Cape Town, South AfricaDistrict 5300 has joined with District 9350 in South Africa to promote literacy among South African children.  The literacy rate is currently 61%.  With the financial support of local clubs and District Matching Grants, a goal has been established to raise $23,000.  The project, originally developed by teachers in South Africa, will provide all the books needed by children in grades 1-3 for three years.

Tanzania Dental Clinic - Partnering with Rotary clubs from Southern Nevada and California, the Rotary Club of Green Valley has provided funding to help purchase equipment and supplies to establish a dental clinic in Tanzania, Africa.

Australian Bush Fire Assistance – The club purchased two Shelter Boxes for victims of the bush fires that swept through southern Australia in early 2009.  We joined with other Rotary clubs in District 5300 in making these donations to ShelterBox Australia, to assist the hundreds of people who were left homeless by this disaster.

Haitian Earthquake Disaster Relief - GV Rotarians have contributed to a number of charitable organizations through Rotary International and District 5300 to provide assistance to the earthquake victims in Haiti.  Donations have been sent to ShelterBox USA, the Red Cross, etc.
