What is "Piazza Colori"?

Piazza Colori (Public Square Colors) is our version of an Italian Street Painting Festival (I Madonnari).  Artists are free to create, with chalk pastels, a drawing on the concrete - just like graffiti.  Drawings are created in full view of the public, who are encouraged to interact with the artists as they use their amazing talents to create beautiful “murals” before their audience’s eyes.   The fact that the paintings disappear at the end of the fest makes their beauty even more appealing.

Anyone, from children to senior citizens, can become an artist for the weekend.  You do not need to be a professional.  Piazza Colori is held as part of the ArtFest of Henderson™,  which regularly draws 40,000 people.  ArtFest™ will be held on Saturday & Sunday, May 8 - 9, 2010, from 10 am. - 5 pm.

How is the money raised?

Local businesses and generous individuals buy "blocks" on the Henderson Events Center Plaza.  Each block is assigned to an artist.  The sponsor's name appears on a sign over each block.

How will the Rotary Club of Green Valley spend the money it raises at Piazza Colori?

Proceeds from Piazza Colori are a source of funding for the charitable works of the Rotary Club of Green Valley.   The Club makes donations to Henderson-area charities and groups that deal with problems ranging from poverty to illiteracy.  A list of past beneficiaries is available by clicking on the Community Service or International Service sections of our website.  Ever mindful of Rotary's place in the world, the Club is always ready to lend support to emergency relief efforts when they arise and to participate in International projects, including Rotary's goal of eliminating polio from the earth.

I want to participate as a "Sponsor" or an "Artist".  How do I find out more?

Artists should go to the "For Artists" information page.

Sponsors should visit the "For Sponsors" information page.

Corporate donors should visit the "For Title Sponsors" page.

Additional information can be located on the "FAQ" (Frequently Asked Questions) page.
